Frequently Asked Questions

What does Checkmate Community do?
We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings activities into senior facilities. Live music, games, crafts, holiday events — we plan it, staff it, supply it, and run it on-site.
What kinds of facilities do you serve?
Nursing homes, assisted living, memory care, rehab centers, and independent senior communities. If your residents can benefit from structured activity time, we can serve you.
Do you bring your own supplies?
Always. Sound equipment, prizes, cards, crafts, decor — everything. Your staff never shops or preps for our visit.
Do you provide food or snacks?
When the event calls for it, yes — but only after your Dietary Restriction Form is on file. We only bring sealed, commercially packaged items with ingredient lists.
What does the facility need to prepare?
A room, residents, and a staff liaison during the activity. That's it. We bring everything else and clean up when we leave.
How far in advance should we book?
Two to four weeks is ideal. Shorter notice is sometimes possible — call us and we'll check.
Can family attend?
With your facility's approval, yes. Many of our events are designed to include family as part of the experience.
Can volunteers attend?
Yes — our own volunteers assist at most events. They sign a Volunteer Agreement and Confidentiality Acknowledgment before any visit.
How are dietary needs handled?
Through our Food & Dietary Restriction Form — per-resident allergies, diabetic, texture-modified, NPO, religious. We cross-check before bringing anything in.
How are photos handled?
Strict opt-in. Residents must have a signed photo permission form on file before we take any image that identifies them. If permission is unknown, we don't photograph.
