Everything facilities, volunteers, and donors ask us most — in one place. Still not sure? We're one message away.
For Facilities
What is Checkmate Community?
Checkmate Community is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings fully-supplied, fully-staffed activities — live music, bingo, crafts, holiday events, and memory-care sessions — into senior facilities across Texas. We're not a vendor and not a facility; we're a volunteer-powered nonprofit that shows up, runs the activity, and leaves your residents smiling.
How much does it cost our facility?
Nothing. Our visits are free to the facility — no cost, no contract, no strings. We're funded by donations and powered by volunteers so we can fill the gap when activity budgets are tight.
What types of facilities do you serve?
Nursing homes, assisted living, memory care, rehab centers, and senior living communities. We adapt each activity plan to the level of care and the residents in the room.
Do we have to supply or prepare anything?
No. We bring the equipment, materials, prizes, and the people to run it. All we need from you is a space, a rough headcount, and a few resident notes (allergies, mobility, photo permissions) through our quick pre-visit form.
How do we book a visit?
Fill out our Partner With Us form with your facility, preferred dates, and the activity type you'd like. We'll confirm with an arrival time, setup needs, and your lead contact. You can also grab our facility forms anytime.
How far in advance should we schedule?
The earlier the better — especially around the holidays, which fill up fast. That said, reach out anytime and we'll find the soonest date that works. Check our calendar to see where we'll be.
Is it safe and appropriate for memory-care residents?
Yes. We run gentle-pace, sensory, and reminiscence activities designed for memory-care safety, and we adapt every program for mixed ability levels so everyone can take part.
Volunteering
Can I volunteer with Checkmate Community?
Absolutely — volunteers are the heart of what we do. Musicians, bingo callers, crafters, and friendly helpers are all welcome. Start on our volunteer page.
Do I need experience to volunteer?
No experience needed — just a willingness to spend a little time with seniors. Tell us what you enjoy and we'll place you where you fit best.
Donations & Support
How is Checkmate Community funded?
Through the generosity of donors and volunteers. Every dollar goes toward supplies, prizes, music, and the visits themselves — so more residents get an afternoon to look forward to.
Are my donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Checkmate Community is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
What are the ways I can support you?
Three easy ways: donate, volunteer, or connect us with a senior facility that could use a visit. All three make a real difference.

We serve senior facilities across Texas. Not sure if you're in our range? Contact us and we'll let you know right away.
Do you take photos during visits?
