We're a Texas nonprofit that exists to fill the gap between tight facility budgets and the activity time your residents deserve.
Across Texas, activity directors are stretched across too many residents, too little budget, and too many care levels. Families ask why there isn't more to do. Staff get stuck choosing between supplies and entertainment.
Checkmate Community was built to close that gap. We show up with the music, the games, the prizes, the snacks, the volunteers — free to the facility. Our only ask is a room and a staff liaison.
Because every senior deserves an afternoon to look forward to.
What we commit to, every visit, in every facility.
Every activity is planned around who's in the room — ability, energy, memory, interests. No one is left out; no one is pushed past what's safe.
We come ready. No extra work for your staff, no surprise asks, no hidden costs. Partnership that feels like partnership.
Photo permissions, dietary forms, confidentiality sign-offs, liability waivers — paperwork before the party, every time.
We measure by smiles, not spreadsheets — but here's how the work shows up.
Regular visits to partner facilities — music, bingo, crafts, holidays, memory-care sessions.
Every visit includes independent, assisted-living, and memory-care residents — no one is left out.
Community members, students, and corporate teams make every visit possible.

Checkmate Community began in 2022 with a heart for young people — and grew to brighten the lives of seniors across North Texas.
Read our founder's story →Facilities, volunteers, donors — every door starts with the same first step.
We stand with children and families affected by incarceration — because no child should inherit a sentence they didn't earn.
Children with a parent or loved one behind bars face steep odds — and too often inherit a cycle they never chose. Checkmate Community exists to interrupt that cycle with practical help, steady support, and people who show up. As our founder puts it: "By helping families in our community, we are building a brighter future for generations to come."
Real support for kids, families, and loved ones coming home.
Toys for Tots drives, so every child feels remembered during the holidays.
Tax and financial classes that help the whole family plan for a stronger future.
Helping loved ones returning home find work and reconnect with family.
Give, volunteer, or reach out — every bit helps a child and family in our community.
